About Bloom Street

I ran a studio before I started building them

Bloom Street is one person, which is me. I build websites for beauty and wellness studios and get them showing up on Google. I'm in San Diego, and happy to work with studios anywhere.

The long version

How I got here

I founded Deep Wave, a red light therapy studio in San Diego, and I did every piece of its website and its local SEO myself. That's where all of this comes from.

It worked. Deep Wave reached number one for twelve non-brand San Diego searches and held a top three spot for its main term across nine straight months, without paying a fortune and without handing control of the site to anybody. That's not a memory, either. It's an export from Search Console with owner access, and it's written up in full, caveats and all, on its own case study page.

Running the studio got me tangled up in the beauty and wellness community here, which is home and where most of my clients still are. When I moved on from Deep Wave, the studio and its equipment went to Sculpt by Rind, run by someone I trust completely, and her site is one of the case studies on this one.

I work with studios anywhere now, and I keep a page for the studios searching here. Local search doesn't behave any differently three states over, and the part that's genuinely local, knowing the ground and who you're up against, is work I'd be doing at the start of your project no matter where you are.

The part worth knowing before you hire me is that I've been on your side of this. A business you're proud of, and no real idea why the people looking for it aren't finding it. Everything about how this one is set up comes back to that.

My background

US Navy Veteran
Specialized in computer information systems, which is the half of this job most people mean when they say the technical side: schema, code injection, redirects, the setup underneath the design.
I Did This For My Own Business First
I founded and ran Deep Wave, a red light therapy studio in San Diego, and did every piece of its website and local SEO myself. It reached #1 for twelve non-brand San Diego searches and held a top three spot for its main term across nine straight months.
AAS in Business Data Analytics, pursuing BA in Software Development
It's the reason you get a monthly report with your own Search Console numbers in it rather than my opinion on how things seem to be going.
I Only Work In One Industry
Beauty and wellness, nothing else. I know the vocabulary, which treatments people search for by name, and which of those searches end in an appointment rather than a browse. None of it gets learned on your budget.
How this is set up

Five things you can hold me to

Every one of these is checkable, most of them before you pay me anything. That was the only test for getting on the list.

One person, from the first email to the handover
Nobody passes you to an account manager once you sign. Whoever reads your Search Console is whoever writes your page titles and whoever answers when you email in eight months.
You own every piece of it
Your domain, your Squarespace account, your content, and written guides for running it yourself. Nothing switches off if we part ways, and there's nothing to cancel.
Numbers you can check without me
Every figure I show you comes out of Google Search Console, and it's your account. If I tell you impressions tripled, you can log in and watch them triple. That's also why you won't find any vanity metrics on this site.
Small enough to be worth it for one treatment room
It's scoped and priced so a solo esthetician can say yes without a monthly retainer hanging over her. That's something I can do, not a rule about who I'll work with: a multi-room spa gets the same attention and the same tooling behind it.
Serious about the work, not about myself
You'll get plain English, straight answers, and a contact button that says Beep me. The tooling underneath is genuinely rigorous. The emails don't need to be.
Why it's set up that way

I think a business should exist to leave its corner of the world a little better than it found it. Not save it. Improve it slightly.

Plenty of people will happily sign a brand new esthetician onto a monthly retainer she doesn't need yet, and I'd rather be the one who tells her the truth and charges her three hundred and fifty dollars. There's a version of this business that makes more money and I know exactly what it looks like. This isn't it, on purpose. That's genuinely the whole plan. Can't wait to see you bloom.

Beep me

Tell me about your studio and what you're trying to fix. I read every message myself and usually reply within a day.
