How do I add Square Appointments to Instagram?

The short answer

On Instagram, tap Edit Profile, then Contact Options under Public Business Information, then Add an Action Button, and choose Appointments for Square. Sign in with your Square account, pick the business account, review the settings and tap Continue. Square says you need a business profile on Instagram and a published Square online booking site first, and that Instagram shows one action button at a time.

Before you start

Square’s help page on booking through Instagram and Facebook, which I read in September 2026, lists what you need first:

  • A Facebook or Instagram business profile. Square says you can convert a personal account to a business account on either.
  • Your Square online booking site, set up and published. Adding Square Appointments to Squarespace has the publishing steps at the top, and they’re the same whatever your website runs on.
  • To have read Facebook’s commerce policies.

Instagram’s side, from its help center:

  • Action buttons are for business and creator accounts.
  • Appointments by Square is on its list of Book now partners.
  • One action button can be displayed on a profile at a time.
  • The feature is being introduced gradually and may not be available to you yet.

The Book Now button on Instagram

Square’s steps:

  1. Go to your business profile on Instagram and tap Edit Profile.
  2. Under Public Business Information, tap Contact Options.
  3. Tap Add an Action Button.
  4. Select Appointments for Square from the list.
  5. Sign in with your Square account email address and password.
  6. Select the business account to associate with your bookings.
  7. Review your button settings and tap Continue.
  8. Refresh your profile to see the button.

Instagram’s own page calls the menu Action buttons rather than Contact Options, so look for either.

The Book Now button on Facebook

  1. Go to your Facebook business page and click Add a Button.
  2. Select Book Now.
  3. Tap Connect Another Tool, then select Appointments for Square.
  4. Review the permissions and select Continue.
  5. Sign in with your Square account, select the business account, review the settings and tap Continue.

Square says you can test it afterward by clicking the button and selecting Test Button.

The button is one route. The other is your booking flow link in your bio, which doesn’t depend on Instagram offering you the button. In the Square Dashboard, click Appointments, then Online Booking, then Channels. Under Add your booking flow to an existing site, click Get Started, then Get URL, and copy the address.

The two are separate. The button is one of Instagram’s action buttons, and the bio link is part of your profile, so you can have both.

Taking it off

On Instagram: Edit Profile, then Buttons under Public Business Information, select the button, and tap Remove Action Button. On Facebook: click Edit Book Now on your page, select Delete Button, and confirm.

What the button reaches

The button and the bio link are for people already looking at your profile. Someone searching Google for a treatment hasn’t seen it yet. Is Instagram enough? covers that side. For a site of your own, the Square steps are written for Squarespace and for Wix.

Is Square an Instagram booking partner?

Yes. Instagram's help center lists Appointments by Square among its Book now partners. Square's help page calls the button option Appointments for Square. Instagram says you need an existing account with a partner before you can select it.

Who can set this up in Square?

Square's help page is for account owners, or team members with the appointments permission to configure appointment settings. On the subscription side it lists Square Appointments Free, Plus and Premium, Square Free, Plus and Premium with advanced bookings capabilities added, and sellers with bookings mode on in Square Point of Sale.

Does the Square Book Now button work for classes?

Square's help page says classes aren't compatible with this feature. Appointments are what the button books.

How do I remove the Square button from Instagram?

Square's steps: go to your business profile on Instagram, tap Edit Profile, tap Buttons under Public Business Information, select the button and tap Remove Action Button. On Facebook, click Edit Book Now on your page, then Delete Button, and confirm.
